Bipolar Disorder Treatment Program for Teens
Bipolar disorder is a complex mental health condition that causes dramatic shifts in mood, energy, and behavior. Teens with bipolar disorder may alternate between periods of deep depression and episodes of mania or hypomania. These shifts can make it difficult for them to succeed at school, maintain relationships, or feel emotionally grounded.
At Silver State, our residential program provides the structure and stability teens need to begin the process of recovery. With consistent routines, compassionate care, and therapeutic support, we help teens gain control over their mood swings and develop tools to manage their emotions more effectively.
Each treatment plan is personalized, combining psychiatric support, behavioral therapy, and family involvement to address the unique needs of each teen. Our goal is to help adolescents achieve mood stability, build resilience, and move forward with confidence.

What is Bipolar Disorder?
Bipolar disorder is a mood disorder that causes alternating periods of depression and mania. These episodes can happen weeks or months apart—or shift rapidly in a condition known as rapid cycling. During manic episodes, a teen may seem overly energetic, impulsive, or euphoric. During depressive episodes, they may feel hopeless, exhausted, or withdrawn.
While mood changes are common during adolescence, bipolar disorder symptoms are more extreme and interfere with daily functioning. Without treatment, teens may struggle with academic performance, social relationships, or risky behaviors like substance use or self-harm.
At Silver State, we help teens and families understand how bipolar disorder works and provide tools to help manage it. With early intervention and consistent care, teens can lead productive, fulfilling lives.
Signs and Symptoms of Bipolar Disorder in Teens
Bipolar disorder often emerges during the teenage years and may be misdiagnosed as depression, ADHD, or anxiety without a thorough evaluation. It’s important to recognize the signs and seek early treatment.
Manic or hypomanic symptoms may include:
Rapid speech or racing thoughts
Risky or impulsive behavior
Decreased need for sleep
Irritability or agitation
Inflated self-esteem or grandiosity
Depressive symptoms may include:
Persistent sadness or hopelessness
Loss of interest in activities
Fatigue or low energy
Changes in appetite or sleep
Suicidal thoughts or self-harm
If your teen exhibits signs of both depression and mania, professional residential treatment may be necessary to stabilize their mood and begin long-term recovery.

Why Individualized Plans Matter for Teens with Bipolar Disorder
Because bipolar disorder presents differently in every teen, a one-size-fits-all approach won’t work. That’s why our team develops personalized treatment plans based on each adolescent’s symptoms, history, medication needs, and emotional functioning.
Our residential program integrates psychiatric oversight, behavioral therapies, family support, and education into every plan. Teens are supported through their highs and lows with consistent routines, coping tools, and 24/7 access to trained staff.
We also involve families throughout treatment to ensure that stability continues after discharge. With the right support system, teens can learn to manage bipolar disorder and build a fulfilling future.
The Silver State Adolescent Approach
Silver State Adolescent Treatment offers a safe, structured, and nurturing environment where teens with bipolar disorder can stabilize and grow. Our team of licensed therapists, psychiatrists, nurses, and mentors work together to provide comprehensive care for each individual.
We treat more than the symptoms—we treat the whole teen. Our evidence-based therapies address emotional regulation, impulse control, and family dynamics. We also focus on practical life skills, academic support, and relapse prevention strategies.
Our goal is to empower teens to understand their diagnosis, take ownership of their recovery, and build the confidence to thrive in school, at home, and in life. With the right treatment, teens with bipolar disorder can learn to manage their condition and lead meaningful, balanced lives.
